Reacting to First Lady Rula Ghani's remarks, the Office of the First Vice President, Abdul Rashid Dostum, on Monday said the Presidential Palace was deliberately omitting an ethnic group from the country's political arena.
Earlier, Rula Ghani told Times of London that law was being exercised on the first VP and he was in a form of house arrest and was not allowed for his role in government affairs.
In response, Dostum's office said the statement of Rula Ghani showed the government was not interested in unearthing facts or implementing law but instead wanted to sideline the presence of a strong ethnic group in the country's politics.
Inayatullah Frahmand, head of the Dostum's office, on his social media account wrote that the government's recent action and Rula Ghani's statement would have no impact on the position of Gen. Dostum as the vice president.
He demanded the government first of all explain constitutional powers of the president to the people.
Dostum and his bodyguards have been accused of beating and sexual harassing his political rival Ahmad Ishchi.
Ishchi in Dostum's custody for 16 days and was rescued by security officials.
